I have two dachshunds. One of them has really bad teeth. She had them cleaned a few months ago and they even had to remove four teeth. Since then, I’ve been brushing her teeth almost every day (though I sometimes skip a day or two). She gets some yellow buildup on her canines which I can clean off with brushing, but her back teeth still have a bit of plaque. I’m just wondering what others use to keep their dogs’ teeth clean. I use an enzymatic toothpaste and give her CET veggiedent treats.
I have a Norfolk Terrier and I brush his teeth twice a day. Little dogs tend to have worse teeth, so brushing at least once a day is really important. Here are some toothpastes I like: 1) Radius Organic Pet Dental Gel. It has a nice sweet potato and cinnamon flavor. 2) Black Sheep Organics toothpaste. 3) CET Enzymatic.
I use a water additive for my dogs, and it really helps! Just make sure the one you use is approved by the VOHC.
