Anyone else’s dog dealing with seasonal allergies?

I think my dog might have allergies this spring. He’s been itching like crazy, and I noticed his ears are all red and swollen. I read that pollen, grass, and mold can affect dogs too, but I’m not sure how to help him. Anyone else’s dog going through this? What’s worked for you? :dog:

My dog’s the same! He’s been licking his paws nonstop. Vet said it’s seasonal allergies. I started giving him antihistamines and it’s helped a lot. Make sure to ask your vet first though! :+1:

Wait, antihistamines for dogs? I didn’t know that! Are they like the ones we use?

@Orion
Yeah, they’re similar but specifically for dogs. Just make sure to get the dosage right from your vet! I was worried at first too, but it’s safe when prescribed. :sweat_smile:

I had the same issue last year! I started wiping down my dog’s paws after walks and gave him baths more often. Helped a lot with the itching.

Ohh, I never thought of wiping down his paws before bringing him inside! I’ll try that. Thanks!

My dog’s been sneezing and getting watery eyes too. I was told it’s from the grass pollen. We’ve been keeping him inside more and playing with toys instead of going outside so much.

Same here! I noticed he’s way more comfortable when he’s not outside as much. We’re also using a flea-killer product since he’s allergic to flea bites. Seems to be helping!

My vet recommended cutting down outdoor time too. If you can, keep your dog off the grass and avoid letting them roll around. It seems to be a big help!

Also, don’t forget to check your dog’s ears for infections. I had to take my dog in last week because he had a chronic ear infection from all the itching. Definitely worth keeping an eye on!
