Firework season is here again, and my dog absolutely loses it every time. He starts shaking, whining, and even pees inside sometimes. I feel so bad for him, and IDK what to do. I’ve tried keeping him inside, but he still panics. Anyone got tips for calming dogs down during fireworks?
Same here. My dog hides under the bed and refuses to come out. I tried playing white noise last year, and it kinda helped. Maybe try that?

Oh, that’s a good idea! Do you just use a fan or play something specific?

I played calming music and turned on a fan. Some people run a dryer or TV in the background too.
Have you tried a thunder jacket? It works for some dogs, like a constant hug that calms them down.

I’ve seen those! Are they worth it?

Depends on the dog. My friend’s pup didn’t care, but mine gets super relaxed with it.
My vet suggested CBD oil. Anyone tried it? I hear mixed reviews.

Yeah, but IDK if it actually works or if I just wanted it to. Vet said it’s safe tho.

Good to know. Might give it a shot.
Training helped my dog the most. I played firework sounds at a low volume while playing tug to distract him. Slowly increased the volume over time.

Oh wow, that actually worked?

Yep! It shifts their focus from fear to play. Took time, but now my dog barely reacts.
If all else fails, talk to your vet. Some dogs need meds if their anxiety is really bad.

Good point. I’ll check with my vet just in case.
