Anyone else’s Golden Retriever dealing with health issues?

I’ve had my Golden Retriever for a few years now, and I’ve been dealing with some health issues. I swear, it’s like I’m always at the vet. Has anyone else had to deal with things like hip dysplasia, heart issues, or even cancer in Golden Retrievers? I know they’re prone to stuff like that, but sometimes I feel like I’m always on the lookout for the next problem… any tips to manage or prevent it? My vet recommended some things, but it’s always a bit overwhelming. Anyone in the same boat?

Yeah, I’ve dealt with hip dysplasia in my Golden. It’s tough, man. We had to make some changes to his diet and exercise routine to help him out. Have you tried weight management for that?

Yeah, we’re managing his weight, but I think we might need more control on the exercise part. He’s always so eager to run around, lol.

Aortic stenosis is something I’ve been worried about for my dog. She’s been coughing a lot lately, so I took her to the vet. It’s scary, but early detection can really make a difference. Have you had any checkups recently?

@Zion
Yeah, I took him in for a checkup last month. They mentioned some possible heart concerns but said it’s manageable for now. I guess I’ll just keep monitoring him.

I’ve also had issues with seborrhea on my Golden’s skin. Poor guy’s always itching. The vet gave me some medicated shampoo and dietary changes to help, and it’s getting a bit better.

Oh, that sounds familiar! My dog had something similar, but I didn’t know it had a name, lol. I’ll try the shampoo. Thanks for the tip!

I’ve also heard about lymphoma being an issue for Golden Retrievers. I haven’t experienced it, but I’m always worried about my dog’s health. I do regular checkups, but it’s hard not to worry.

Same here, it’s always in the back of my mind. I’ve been doing checkups too, but I feel like it’s never enough. Like, how much is too much, you know?

@Fife
I’ve been lucky enough not to deal with that one yet, but I’ve heard it’s pretty common in young Goldens. I’ll keep an eye out for any signs.
