Anyone else tried giving their dog green beans?

I keep seeing people talk about giving green beans to dogs, and apparently, it’s good for them? I mean, I get that they have fiber and vitamins, but I don’t wanna mess up my pup’s diet. Anyone here tried it? How much do you even give?

Yeah, I’ve been giving my dog green beans as a treat. Just make sure they’re fresh and not canned ones with salt.

Good to know! Do you serve them raw or cooked?

Either works! My dog loves them raw, but if you cook them, just don’t add salt or spices.

Be careful not to overdo it. Too many green beans can mess with their nutrition. Dogs need protein and fat too.

Oh really? I thought veggies were just good overall?

They are, but dogs don’t need as many as we do. Too much and they might not get enough nutrients from their main food.

I heard some people use green beans for weight loss in dogs? Is that even safe?

Yeah, it’s called the green bean diet. Basically, you swap out a percentage of their regular food with green beans to cut calories.

@Asher
Sounds kinda risky… wouldn’t they miss out on important nutrients?

That’s the issue. If you go too far (like 50% green beans), it can cause deficiencies. Best to ask a vet before trying it.

Just a heads-up—if your dog eats too many green beans at once, they might get diarrhea or gas. Happened to mine lol.

Oh yikes, I’ll introduce them slowly then.

Do you have to chop them up first, or can dogs just eat them whole?

Depends on the dog! Small dogs might choke, so chopping is safer. Big dogs can usually handle them whole.
