Anyone else worried about their cat during the holidays, so many hazards!

Idk about y’all, but the holidays kinda stress me out when it comes to my cat. more guests, more decorations, and way more chances for something to go wrong. like, my cat LOVES climbing stuff, so the christmas tree is basically a jungle gym for her. also, guests leave their bags open, and i’ve caught her sniffing around meds before :grimacing:. and don’t even get me started on tinsel and cords, anyone else take extra precautions this time of year?

ugh yes! my cat knocked over the tree last year and broke a bunch of ornaments. now i anchor it to the wall lol.

smart! how do you anchor it? i’m thinking of tying mine to something.

zip ties work great if you have something solid nearby to attach it to!

i always put the breakable ornaments up top and use fabric ones at the bottom. less mess if my cat swipes at them lol.

good idea! do you do anything about the lights? mine chews the wires if i’m not careful.

i wrap them in a plastic cord protector. keeps my cat from getting zapped lol.

does anyone else’s cat go crazy when guests come over? mine tries to run outside every time the door opens :sob:.

yesss, i’ve started putting mine in a separate room when people visit. less stress for both of us haha.

same! i also tell guests to watch their bags. meds left out = disaster waiting to happen.

psa: tinsel is SUPER dangerous for cats. if they eat it, it can get stuck in their intestines and need surgery.

yikes, didn’t even think about that. definitely keeping it out of my house this year.

yup, same with ribbons and bows. my cat chews on everything :sob:.

watch out for holiday food too! chocolate, alcohol, and even fatty table scraps can make cats sick.

ugh, i have to tell my family every year not to feed my cat. they think a little turkey is ‘fine’ but nope.
