Okay so I just got a puppy and lately she’s been chewing everything. Like, nonstop. My shoes, cords, even the corner of my table . Someone told me it might be teething? IDK much about puppy stuff, but if this is a phase, how long does it last? Also… is it normal for them to cry a bit while chewing? Any tips to help her feel better would be awesome.
Yep, sounds like teething. My pup was chewing like crazy from like week 2 to around 6 months. Hang in there

Wait… they start teething at 2 weeks?? I thought it was way later.
@Remy
Yeah, they’re born without teeth. Baby teeth pop in between 2-4 weeks. Full set of baby teeth by 5-6 weeks. Wild huh?
Try frozen carrots or blueberries. My pup looooved those when her gums were sore. Calms them down and gives them something safe to munch.

Omg frozen carrots? I didn’t know you could give those to pups. That sounds way easier than some of the stuff I saw online.

Yep, just avoid ice cubes – they’re too hard for those baby teeth. Frozen fruits > ice cubes all day.
Is your puppy also whimpering a little and drooling a lot? That’s what mine did. Totally normal but yeah, they can be uncomfortable

YES! She’s been doing that too. Glad to know it’s not just her
Try soft chew toys or those puppy KONGs you can freeze. I stuffed one with food and froze it – it kept mine busy for like 30 mins lol

Those are lifesavers tbh. Also gently massaging their gums can help too if they let you!

Gum massage? Hadn’t heard of that. Just use my finger or…?
@Presley
Yep! Just a clean finger and gentle pressure. Some pups like it, some don’t. Worth a try tho!
Also def puppy-proof your house. My little guy chewed through a phone charger once . Now everything dangerous is outta reach and I rotate his toys to keep him busy.

Rotation? Like switch out his toys every few days or what?
@Presley
Exactly! Keep a few out at a time, then swap them so they stay ‘new’ and interesting to him.
