thinking of crate training my puppy but idk where to start exactly. i read that it helps with bladder control and keeping them outta trouble, but i’m nervous about doing it wrong. anyone here actually tried it? how long did it take for your pup to get used to it?

yeah i crate trained mine! honestly took like a week or two for her to get comfy with it. just had to be super consistent and chill about it.
what do you mean by consistent? like putting her in at the same time every day?
fyi if you’re picking a crate, don’t get one that’s too big. mine would just pee in one corner and chill in the other lol.

nah lol. dogs are den animals. if it’s too big, they’ll treat part of it like a bathroom. should be just big enough for them to stand, turn, and lie down.
my pup cried sooo much the first night. i almost gave up but waited till he was quiet before letting him out. helped big time.

kinda yeah. i only opened the crate when he was quiet so he’d learn crying doesn’t get him out. sounds mean but it worked.
lowkey forgot how often puppies need potty breaks 
. every 2–3 hrs during the day and every 3 hrs at night was our routine.

yup lol. can’t rely on the pup to cry every time. better safe than scrubbing pee at 3am 
oh and don’t forget placement matters. don’t put the crate somewhere loud or super hot/cold. keep it near where you hang out so they don’t feel isolated.

i had mine in the laundry room and she hated it. moved it to the living room and she was way calmer.
