Anyone tried mobile vets? Are they worth it?

So I’ve been thinking about trying a mobile vet for my dog. I hate the whole process of going to the vet—the car ride stress, the waiting room full of other pets, and just the overall hassle. Plus, with everything that’s been happening the past few years, it feels like a good option. Anyone used one before? What was your experience like?

Yeah, I used a mobile vet when my cat was sick. Honestly, it was way less stressful for her. The vet just set up in my living room and did everything there. 10/10 would recommend.

That’s awesome! Did they have all the equipment with them? I’m wondering how much they can actually do at home.

@Ode
Yeah, depends on the vet. Some have a van with all the gear, but mine just brought what they needed inside. They did an exam, vaccines, and some tests right in my house.

I thought about it but wasn’t sure about the cost. Do they charge a lot more than a regular vet?

The actual check-up cost is usually the same, but they charge extra for travel. I paid like $60 for the travel fee.

@Axel
Ohh okay, that’s not as bad as I thought. Thanks for the info!

Are they able to do surgeries? Like spaying and neutering?

Some do, but most prefer to do anything that needs anesthesia at a clinic. Safer that way.

Makes sense. I was hoping to avoid a clinic visit, but I get why they’d need a proper setup.

Anyone know if pet insurance covers mobile vets? I don’t wanna get hit with a surprise bill lol.

Some insurance does! Spot covers mobile vets, but they don’t cover the travel fee, just the actual medical services.

@Eli
Oh, good to know. Guess I’ll check with mine before I book an appointment. Appreciate it!

How do you even find a good mobile vet? Just Google it?

Yeah, or ask local pet owners for recommendations. Read reviews, too—some are great, some not so much.

Good call. I’ll check out some reviews before booking. Thanks!
