So my cat was eyeing my peanut butter sandwich the other day, and I was kinda tempted to let her have a little taste. But then I started wondering… is peanut butter actually safe for cats? I mean, I know it’s not toxic, but are there risks? Anyone here ever given their cat some PB?
I’ve let my cat lick a tiny bit off my finger before. She seemed to love it, but I read somewhere that some peanut butter has xylitol, which is super toxic for pets.

Wait, what’s xylitol?
@Nova
It’s an artificial sweetener that’s really bad for cats and dogs. Can mess with their blood sugar and even cause liver failure. That’s why you gotta check the ingredients first.
Honestly, peanut butter doesn’t even do anything for cats nutritionally. They’re carnivores, so they don’t really need stuff like PB.

Yeah, makes sense. They need meat for their protein, not peanut butter lol.

Some cats can even be allergic to peanuts. Like, they can get itchy skin, vomiting, or even diarrhea.
Dang, I didn’t even think about allergies. I’ll probably skip the PB just to be safe.
If your cat likes peanut butter, maybe try giving them safer treats instead. Small pieces of cooked chicken or scrambled eggs are way better.

Ooh, I like that idea. Gonna try some chicken next time!
Also, random question—why do some cats even like peanut butter? Mine seemed really into the smell.

Probably the fat content! Cats naturally go for fatty foods, and PB has a lot of fat. Also, the texture might be interesting for them.
