Can dogs eat blueberries, is it safe?

I’ve been wondering if it’s okay to give my dog blueberries. I mean, they seem healthy, but I don’t wanna risk upsetting his stomach. Anyone know if they’re safe? And how many can they actually eat?

Yeah, blueberries are totally safe for dogs! They’re packed with antioxidants and vitamins, so they’re actually pretty healthy.

Oh nice, so they won’t mess up his stomach or anything?

@Oli
Not unless you give too many! Too much can cause an upset stomach or diarrhea, so just keep it moderate.

I give my dog a few frozen blueberries as a treat sometimes. He loves ‘em, especially in the summer!

Wait, frozen? Is that safe? Never thought about giving them like that.

@Blake
Yep! Frozen or fresh, both are fine. Frozen ones are just fun for hot days. Keeps ‘em busy too lol.

Just don’t give them blueberry muffins. The muffins have too much sugar and fat, not great for dogs.

Good call! I almost gave mine a bite of my muffin the other day. Guess I’ll stick to plain blueberries.

How many blueberries can a dog actually eat tho? Like, is there a limit?

Depends on the size of your dog. Small dogs should have fewer, like 8-10 max per day. Bigger dogs can probably handle more.

@Thayer
Oh gotcha, that makes sense. I’ll start small and see how my pup does.

Also, if you’re not sure, always ask your vet. Some dogs have sensitive stomachs, so it’s good to check!
