I had this rescue dog, a beautiful white pup I named Shiro. She was with me for two years, always there to greet me at the gate. Losing her was hard. Later, I rescued another dog who looked just like her and named him Snoopy. Sometimes, I feel like Shiro found her way back to me through him. Snoopy has been with me for eight years now.
I had a soul dog too… I lost her last January, and I can’t talk about her without tears. She was like my child. I’d give up so much just to have her back.

My soul dog saved my life, kept me going when I was at my lowest. It’s been over a year since he passed, but I still miss him every day. His name was Jasper – he was a beagle-pit mix, and he had this incredible courage. Once, he stood up to a German shepherd to protect my boyfriend’s pup. Jasper was only about 25 pounds, but he had the heart of a lion.

Forgot to add… the day we buried Jasper, a rainbow appeared. It was the brightest I’d ever seen, and it reminded me of the sunset on the day I brought him home. I got tattoos of the rainbow and that sunset to remember him by.
I do believe in a soul dog. My girl Chloe has been with me through all of life’s ups and downs… infertility, divorce, depression… everything. I make sure to enjoy every moment with her, knowing one day all I’ll have are memories. I truly believe I’ll find her again someday.
I hope my old dog, Luke, finds his way back to me too. I lost him to cancer last year after seven amazing years. My new dog is great, but that bond with Luke was something unique. Happy for you, getting that feeling twice!
@Sunny
I get it. We lost our dog, Roxy, in May. And just recently, we found Ava, who reminds us so much of her. It feels like Roxy had a hand in sending us a pup who needed us as much as we needed her.
Absolutely. I had a soul dog. My current dog is amazing, but that bond with her was just on another level. She was like a sister.
I just lost my soul dog… an 8-year-old German shepherd. She was my best friend, my shadow. The grief is overwhelming; I miss her so much. I would give anything to have her back in some form.
My soul dog was Louie. He passed away last year due to heart issues. He was a rescue with these striking green eyes, and he had this way of holding eye contact with me that felt like he understood everything. I have two other dogs, but Louie was special.
This is beautiful. I’m actually looking to adopt a dog soon.

Good bot
I do believe!
Thanks for sharing. Dogs seem to have this incredible ability to bond with us deeply. Once they tune into our needs, they connect so fully. Great story.
My old dog was named Shiro too… it’s been four years, and I’m still hoping he’ll find his way back to me one day.
Your story about Shiro and Snoopy really touched me. Pets often feel like they come into our lives for reasons beyond what we see. Does Snoopy have any of Shiro’s quirks or little habits?
My grandpa used to say we get three great dogs in life – one as a kid, one as a family pet, and one as we grow old. I’ve had my three – each special in their own way. My current dog, Larry, a Boerboel Mastiff, is my last one, and he’s everything you could want in a companion. Big, strong, and gentle with the kids. I wouldn’t trade a moment with him.
Didn’t believe in a soul dog at first, and I’ve had dogs for over 25 years. But after my parents and another close family member passed, I was in a dark place. My dog has been with me through all of it, teaching me more than I thought possible. He is definitely my soul dog.
