About a month ago, my cat developed a urinary blockage, so I took him to the vet, and they placed a catheter to drain it. We followed all the care instructions and gave him the meds the vet recommended. The vet warned us this could happen again, though.
Well, it happened again yesterday. This time, surgery was the only option, and we couldn’t afford it. We couldn’t even afford the catheter this time. So I had to make the painful decision to let him go because he was suffering. I know some might think it was wrong, but I had no choice. Just really hurting right now and needed somewhere to vent.
This is so sad. It takes a while to heal from this kind of loss. I still talk to my beloved pet even now, and years later, I adopted a new dog who needed me. Our lost pets never really leave us.
You didn’t do anything wrong. It’s hard when money is an issue, but there’s no guilt in doing the best you can. Allow yourself to grieve, and take care of yourself.
This happened with my cat too, and it was devastating. Making the choice to end their suffering is the ultimate act of kindness, even if it breaks your heart. Hugs to you.
I’m so sorry. We went through the same thing with our young cat and had to make the same tough choice due to finances. I know the decision is painful, but please know you did what was kind.

It’s awful when money stands in the way of helping a pet. You made a humane decision.
Losing a pet is one of the hardest things. You did what you could, and it was the right choice, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now. They’re in a peaceful place now.
I’m so sorry you had to go through this. No one should judge you for doing what you had to do. You made a hard choice because you cared. Sending you lots of support.
