So my dog just ate some of my medication and I’m freaking out. IDK what to do first. Do I try to make him vomit or take him straight to the vet? Anyone been through this before?
Don’t make him vomit unless a vet says so! Some meds can do more damage that way. Call your vet or the Pet Poison Helpline ASAP.

Oh wow, I didn’t know that. Thought vomiting was always the move.
@Eden
Yeah, it depends on the drug. Some can burn the throat coming back up or cause more problems.
What kind of meds? Some are more dangerous than others. NSAIDs, antidepressants, ADHD meds, and heart meds can be really bad.

It was ibuprofen… like two pills, I think. Is that bad?
@Jordan
Yeah, ibuprofen can be super toxic for dogs. Can cause internal bleeding, kidney damage, even death. Call your vet right now.
If you have the pill bottle, bring it to the vet. They’ll need to know the exact dosage and strength to treat your pup properly.

Got it. Thanks for the advice, heading to the vet now.
This happened to my friend’s dog once. It cost a lot to treat, but pet insurance helped. Do you have insurance?

Nope, never thought about it before… but definitely considering it now.
@Jordan
Yeah, it helps for unexpected vet bills. Better safe than sorry!
This is scary… how do you even prevent this from happening?

Keep all meds in high cabinets or locked drawers. Dogs can chew through ‘childproof’ bottles, so don’t leave them out.
@Zayn
Good tip. Gonna check my place now to make sure everything’s stored right.
