How long are cats actually pregnant for?

So I just found out my cat is pregnant and now I’m freaking out a little lol. Like… how long is this gonna take? I heard it’s about two months but IDK if that’s true. Anyone else been through this and have any tips? What should I be doing for her during this time?

Yeah it’s usually around 63 to 67 days, give or take. Mine gave birth right on day 65. Just make sure she’s eating enough and has a quiet place to chill.

Wait what’s the quiet place for?

@Riley
Oh it’s for nesting. Pregnant cats look for cozy dark spots to give birth. I used a box with soft blankets and she loved it.

Make sure to check for signs like nesting or her teats getting darker. That’s how I realized mine was pregnant in the first place :sweat_smile:

What does ‘teats getting darker’ even mean lol

@Mai
Lmao it’s called ‘pinking up’ – her nipples swell and turn a bit darker. It’s one of the early signs.

Just a heads up—don’t give her any vaccines during pregnancy. My vet was super clear about that. Could mess with the kittens.

Oh wow I didn’t know that. Was gonna take her for shots next week. Glad I saw this.

Is it normal for them to throw up? Mine’s been vomiting like every morning lately.

Yeah apparently they get morning sickness too :sob: as long as it’s not constant, should be fine.

If it keeps happening and there’s no other preg signs, might be something else tho. I’d call the vet just in case.

Don’t forget about parasites. My vet made me do a fecal test to make sure no worms would get passed to the kittens. Better safe than sorry.

Did you just buy a dewormer or what?

@Tobin
Nah don’t do OTC stuff. Vet gave me a safe option that won’t mess with her or the kittens.
