How old is my cat in human years, anyone know? Funny huh!

So I was just sitting here staring at my cat like… how old are you really? :joy: I mean, I know her age in cat years, but I never really thought about how that translates to human years. She’s 7 right now, and I started wondering if that means she’s middle-aged or still young lol. Anyone got a good way to figure that out?

Haha I actually looked this up recently… if your cat is 7, she’s around 44 in human years. That’s the start of the ‘mature’ stage apparently.

Wait what? 7 is already 44 human years?? That escalated fast lol.

@Zach
Yeah lol. Cats age SUPER fast in the first two years. Like, 24 human years by age 2, then around 4 human years for every cat year after that.

Mine’s 2 and I thought she was still a baby lmao. Turns out she’s basically 24 years old??

Yep, that’s the ‘junior’ phase ending. Your cat’s kinda like a young adult now.

@Darin
No wonder she acts like a rebellious teen sometimes :joy:

Anyone know what comes after the ‘mature’ stage? My cat’s almost 11 and starting to slow down a bit.

That’s when they hit the ‘senior’ phase… between 11–14 yrs. So like 60–72 in human years.

@Remy
Dang, time flies. Gonna make sure we keep up with her vet visits then.

What’s after senior? Just curious if cats can go older than that.

Yeah, they actually have a stage called ‘super senior’ :joy: it’s 15+ years, which is like 76+ human years. Add 4 human years for every cat year after 15.

@Fay
Yo that’s wild. I thought most cats only lived like 12–14 years max.

FYI – the first two years = fastest aging. So like, your cat hits 24 human years by age 2, then just adds 4 each year after.

Ahh okay, so after 2 years it slows down a bit. Makes more sense now.
