Is it advisable to apply for pet insurance during a routine kitten illness?

Is it a good idea to apply for pet insurance while my kitten is going through a routine illness? I’m planning to get insurance for my new kitten, who has been diagnosed with a routine parasite from a stool sample. The vet says he’s not showing any symptoms and should recover after some antibiotics. I really want him to have a clean record when applying for insurance. Should I wait until he’s cleared of the infection, or is it better to apply now to get coverage started sooner?

You don’t need to worry about that since they’ll request your vet records anyway. Also, most insurance plans don’t cover illnesses that can be prevented, so parasite treatments are usually excluded. I’d say go ahead and sign up as soon as possible since it’s a kitten

I can share my experience with the insurance I have. ASPCA covers pre-existing conditions if treatment is completed and the kitten is symptom-free for 180 days. So, as long as you get a negative recheck on the fecal sample and he stays clear of any other GI issues for six months, you should be in good shape
