Is it too late to start pet insurance for an older pet?

Is it still worthwhile to start pet insurance for an older pet?

I’m also starting pet insurance late for my senior cat. She’s not currently sick, but as she ages, I know issues might arise in the future. I’ve been fortunate to have her for 10 years (she’s estimated to be over 12 years old) without any serious health problems. She’s only needed occasional vet visits for vaccinations. I want to ensure I’m providing the best care for her since I love her dearly. After doing some research, I hope I chose a good policy. Is this insurance option suitable for senior cats?

As someone with experience selling pet insurance and working as a veterinary nurse, I found Embrace to be one of the more challenging policies to compete against. You made a great choice.

Here’s a positive review of Embrace from my experience. I signed up for it three years ago for my female Doberman, who was just under a year old at the time. I’ve submitted minor claims over the years without any problems getting reimbursed. Earlier this year, she tore her CCL and needed TPLO surgery, which cost nearly $6,000. I submitted the claim and received a 90% reimbursement within 12 days. One of the perks is that Embrace calculates their reimbursement based on the total bill before the deductible, which means you get a bit more money back.

I had Embrace for my two dogs, both of whom have since passed away. They covered several surgeries, diagnostics, and even a heart condition for my Cavalier. I never encountered any issues with them.

However, I want to caution you that insuring an older pet can come with notable restrictions. If your cat has any pre-existing conditions, it might affect what’s covered. It’s always a good idea to discuss this with them and review your vet records. Good luck buddy.

I’m paying $79 for this.

As someone who works at a veterinary clinic, we consistently have issues with this insurance. They are notoriously difficult when it comes to reimbursing pet owners.

Ugh, I spent days researching, reading reviews, and watching videos, and it all seemed so perfect. I just signed up last month, and now I’m wondering if I can switch. Should I cancel and start a new policy, or is it possible to do it this soon? :weary:
