Is Trupanion a reliable pet insurance option?

I got a quote from Trupanion for my dog, and the monthly payment is $435 with a $200 deductible. Is anyone else getting quotes this high? :thinking:

Wow, that’s crazy. My dog’s a pit mix, and that alone added another $30 to the monthly payment :sweat_smile:.

It really depends on where you live, your dog’s breed, and age. The price can change a lot. I’ve got a puppy, and I’m paying about $100 a month, but I don’t have the extra rider.

I live in California, which is pretty pricey. I know people in LA who pay way more, though. They base it on vet costs in your area, so location is super important.

Since Trupanion has no upper limit, some people see it as more of a catastrophe insurance option, especially if you go with a higher deductible.

I ended up going with Fursure instead. For $90 a month, I get a 90% payout, a $250 deductible, and unlimited treatments/services each year. Trupanion just felt overpriced to me.
