My cat ate marijuana, what do I do?

So, my cat somehow got into some marijuana I had left out. Now she’s acting all weird wobbly, drooling, and just lying around looking out of it. I feel terrible. Should I be freaking out?? What should I do next? Has this happened to anyone else?

Yeah, this happened to my sister’s cat once. Best thing is to call your vet ASAP. They might want to induce vomiting or give activated charcoal to help get it out of her system.

Oh wow, I didn’t even think of that. I’ll call the vet now. Thanks!

Yeah, def don’t wait. Dehydration can be an issue too, so they might put her on an IV.

Not all edibles are the same, tho. If it was something like chocolate or medical-grade THC, it’s more serious.

It was just a regular edible, not medical-grade or anything. Does that make a difference?

It’s still bad, but medical-grade THC is way stronger. Either way, keep an eye on her and get her checked out.

Does anyone know how long it takes for symptoms to show up? Asking for future reference lol.

Usually 30 mins to an hour. That’s when they start looking wobbly or super spaced out.

Yeah, my cat started acting weird about 40 minutes after I think she ate it.

Honestly, best way to prevent this is just locking up your stash. Cats can get into anything lol.

Facts. My cat once opened a cabinet just to knock stuff down. Gotta keep it all in a safe spot.

How much does a vet visit for this kind of thing usually cost?

Depends where you are, but at minimum, you’re looking at bloodwork and an IV, which can add up fast.

Yeah, but don’t stress the cost too much. Just get your cat checked out—it’s worth it.
