This morning, my oldest son left the pantry open, and our dog got into half a bag of chocolate chips. When I came back home, there was vomit all over the house. I found 7 spots in total. He hasn’t thrown up in about an hour now, and he’s acting normal playing, wagging his tail, eating his food, and drinking water. Should I still be worried? He seems to have gotten everything out, but I’m still a bit concerned for tonight. He sleeps at the foot of our bed, and I don’t want to wake up to find vomit in the bed. Do you think a vet visit is needed, or will he be okay? For context, he’s an Australian cattle dog/Jack Russell mix and weighs around 30lbs.
Chocolate can slow down a dog’s heart, but it’s usually not harmful to the liver or kidneys. It’s best to call your vet for advice.

Our vet is closed right now. Is there an emergency hotline I could reach out to for pets?
@Luca
I’m not sure. I have a local emergency vet that takes walk-ins, so maybe check if there’s one near you.
If it was milk chocolate and he’s had that much throwing up, he should be fine. If it was dark chocolate, you should go to the ER now, even if he hasn’t vomited. If you can afford it, a vet visit wouldn’t hurt, just to be sure.
