My pup is chewing EVERYTHING. Hands, shoes, furniture… you name it. I know it’s because of teething, but IDK how to make it stop. Tried chew toys, but they don’t seem interested. Anyone got tricks for this?
Yeah, my puppy was the same. I found that frozen treats helped a lot. Have you tried freezing a wet washcloth for them?

Oh, never thought of that! Do I just soak it in water and freeze it?
@Frost
Yep, exactly! Just wet a cloth, wring it out a bit, and freeze it. My pup loved it.
It’s totally normal! Puppies go through this as their baby teeth fall out and adult ones come in. Just gotta keep redirecting them to the right things to chew.

Wait, so they actually lose their baby teeth like humans?
@Corey
Yeah! They start with 28 baby teeth (aka ‘needle teeth’) and then they lose them as their adult teeth come in. They’ll end up with 42 permanent teeth.
Honestly, just keep chew toys around. They’ll pick them over your furniture eventually. I avoided hard plastic ones, though—too rough on their gums.

Yeah, I tried a few chew toys, but my pup doesn’t seem that into them. Any recommendations?
@Frost
I went with softer ones that had a little flexibility. Some dogs don’t like really hard toys, especially during teething.
Make sure to keep stuff out of reach! If they can grab it, they’ll chew it. Lost a whole pair of sneakers to my pup last month lol.

Facts. I had to start putting my shoes in a closet because my pup thought they were his personal chew toys.
If they bite you, try reacting like another dog would. Let out a yelp and walk away. My pup learned fast that biting means playtime is over.

Oh, interesting. So just like a loud ‘ouch’ and stop playing?
@Frost
Exactly! Puppies learn from each other that way. If they bite too hard, their littermates yelp and stop playing. Works on humans too lol.
