Thinking of getting a house cat, which breed should I go for?

So I’ve been thinking of adopting a cat but honestly IDK where to start. There are so many breeds and they all seem so different. I want something chill, but also good with kids and maybe other pets too. I saw this list of 8 popular house cat breeds and now I’m even more confused lol. Anyone here got a fav? I’ve got a Ragdoll and omg she’s the softest lil shadow ever :joy: follows me around and naps all day. Super chill too.

Wait is that the one that just goes limp when you pick it up? Sounds kinda funny ngl.

@Hollis
Yep exactly haha they’re called ragdolls for a reason. Totally melt in your arms :joy:

I’d go with a Devon Rex if allergies are a thing. They barely shed and are super social. Also the ears are adorable lol.

Wait what does hypoallergenic even mean with cats? Like no sneezing?

@Uma
Yeah pretty much! They have less of the stuff that usually triggers allergies. Not 100% no reactions but def better.

Maine Coon gang here :sunglasses: big, fluffy, and smart. My dude’s like a dog in a cat’s body. Gets along with my kids and the dog too.

I’ve always wanted one of those… they look massive! Are they hard to train though?

@Hollis
Not at all! Super chill and actually really easy to train. Mine even does tricks for treats lol

If you want a calm vibe but don’t wanna deal with grooming all the time, Exotic Shorthairs are a win. Like lazy Persians :joy:

Lazy Persians lmao I’m sold. Do they still play or nah?

@Cleo
They def play, but they’re all about balance—nap hard, play chill :joy:

British Shorthair over here. Super loyal and doesn’t mind chaos around the house lol. Mine just chills while my toddler runs wild.

That sounds perfect for our family setup… do they need a lot of space though?

@Uma
Not really! Just give them a comfy corner and some love and they’re set.
