What are the experiences with Embrace Pet Insurance I was thinking about getting it before but ended up looking for insurance for my 4-year-old husky after my uncle’s Frenchie passed away and realizing how high vet bills can be for meds and all that so I’m curious about which insurance might be best and I noticed Embrace and GEICO are partnered currently it’s around $43 a month for a $750 deductible with 70% reimbursement and a $5k limit which seems decent
I just canceled my policy with them They didn’t respond to my emails even after ten attempts When they did reply it took over a month I finally said I wanted to cancel and they responded quickly but still wouldn’t answer my questions about whether my kitten had everything Embrace needed for coverage He had a clean bill of health from both the breeder’s vet and my vet but Embrace wouldn’t confirm I’d be covered if something happened They kept their answers really vague and I felt like it was a way out for them if I needed to make a claim
They just don’t answer emails If this is how they treat customers I wouldn’t trust them when I really need them Stay far away from this company you have been warned
It really depends on the coverage you want This plan is more suited for things like major illnesses or surgeries since you have to pay $750 a year before any coverage kicks in Then you get 70% back but it’s capped at $5k annually If you don’t mind paying for most expenses but want help with a big bill this plan could work for you
You might want to grab your vet records and check what might be excluded since most pet insurance has pre-existing condition exclusions Anything your pet has been diagnosed with or shows symptoms for usually won’t be covered So you’ll want to weigh that against the policy cost to see if it fits your needs
I had Embrace for years from 2009 until my Yorkie passed last year I have no complaints they covered quite a few expensive things over the years However they were bought out towards the end of my dog’s life so they’re under a different company now and I think also have a different underwriter So my past experience might not be relevant now
It’s smart to get a few quotes and compare Good luck
I get it I’m not really sure what kind of coverage to get since my dog hasn’t had many issues but I saw someone mention having a bad experience with Embrace so I’ll keep looking around to see what options I can find
Embrace gives you choices for out-of-pocket amounts and total insurance coverage You can also pick what percentage they’ll cover up to that limit For instance I insured my 2-year-old German Shepherd for a max of $15k and chose the 90% payback option It costs $68 a month She hasn’t had any problems in the two years we’ve had her Just like anything else you pay what you can and hope you don’t need it Making the choices was tough though Embrace doesn’t communicate well I still haven’t talked to anyone there and their chatbot on the website hasn’t worked for me
It also depends on where you live I’ve heard that Trupanion offers direct billing with certain vets at a 95% reimbursement rate in some states and they have lifetime deductibles per condition So if your pet tends to get UTIs you only pay the deductible once and you’re covered for life with that 95%
