What are the reasons to avoid MetLife pet insurance according to user experiences?

What makes people say to avoid MetLife pet insurance based on their experiences?

I lost my pup two weeks ago. I had MetLife pet insurance for five years. They were always nice and polite on the phone, but they hardly reimbursed me for regular visits. Even though she was a senior dog, I thought preventative visits wouldn’t be covered by any insurance, so I trusted them and figured they would be there for emergencies. Unfortunately, the only emergency I faced was right before she passed, and they only covered less than 30% of the total bill

I calculated my premiums over those five years, and I would have been better off putting that money in a high-yield savings account. They aren’t worth it. I’d suggest looking into credit unions or the other companies people recommend here.

Did you have the wellness coverage? That should cover all vet visits. It did for me. Also, if your dog had any previous conditions, they might not cover anything related to those symptoms.

Unfortunately, many pet insurance companies operate like this. Personally, I’ve had great experiences with MetLife. In this period, they covered over 4k for all my vet visits, teeth cleaning with anesthesia, and vaccinations.

I actually just had a yearly physical done about a week ago, and they covered 80% according to my contract.

I have MetLife too. My first vet visit cost $199, and they covered $166

I’m really sorry to hear about your loss

I’m sorry about your dog’s passing. Did you ask them why they only covered 30% of the bill?
