What do I need to know about pet insurance when adopting a rescue pet from overseas? If I adopt a pet from Petsmart or Petco that recently had a vet exam and was deemed fit for travel, do I still need to get a full check-up at a US vet right away?
I’m not an expert, but I think they would want you to get an exam in the US. It might be best to reach out to Healthy Paws to see what their policy is for situations like this. By the way, what type of pet are you adopting? Sounds interesting
I’m super late responding, but she’s a kitty rescued from Kuwait! I ended up going with MetLife, and I’m taking her to the vet tomorrow 
Just so you know, their packet mentioned they only cover US-licensed vets
From my experience with Pumpkin, it’s not mandatory. I would personally get an exam once they arrive
Thanks for the info! MetLife doesn’t require it either, which is why I chose them, they have a dental cleaning add-on I liked. I have an appointment tomorrow and want to get bloodwork done since the waiting period is over
