So my cat’s been sneezing on and off lately… like not just once or twice, but a lot. At first I thought it was just clearing out some dust or whatever, but now it’s happening more often. No weird discharge or anything yet, but I’m starting to wonder if it’s something more serious. Has anyone else had this with their cat? What did you do? I’ve been cleaning around more and avoiding sprays but IDK if that’s enough.
Yeah mine does that when there’s a lot of dust or I spray air freshener. I switched to unscented stuff and it helped a bit.

Same! I also started doing wet dusting instead of just wiping things dry. Less dust flying around I guess?
@Jordan
Wait what’s wet dusting? Never heard that one before lol

Haha it’s just using a damp cloth to clean surfaces so the dust sticks instead of flying into the air. Helps a lot with sneezing tbh.
If the sneezing gets worse or you notice stuff like yellow or green discharge, definitely take them to the vet. Could be an infection.

Yeah my cat had a respiratory thing once… sneezing nonstop for days. Needed meds but she was okay after like 10 days.
Not to freak you out, but sometimes it’s a dental issue. My vet said tooth stuff can actually mess with their sinuses and cause sneezing too.

Woah really? That’s wild. I thought sneezing was just like allergies or air stuff.
@Finnian
Yeah I didn’t believe it either but gum issues can cause sneezing. Worth checking their teeth if it keeps up.
Could be allergies too. Not super common in cats but it happens. Stuff like pollen or mold might set them off.

That happened to my Russian blue She reacts to strong cleaners so I had to switch everything to low scent or unscented.
Have you tried using a humidifier? Dry air makes it worse for some cats. Helped mine a lot especially during colder months.

Ooo good idea. Didn’t think dry air could be a thing. I’ll try adding one in the room, thanks
