Cat Was Left at My Apartment. Need Help Getting Her Checked Before We Keep Her?

We think this cat was abandoned because she’s super loving and always wants to be inside. She was left out in the freezing snow, so we brought her inside and she’s been in our bathroom since. Right now, she’s curled up on my lap, purring and sleeping.

We already have another cat, and I’m nervous about introducing them without having her checked out first. The problem is, we’re currently living on a single income, and I won’t be getting my disability check until March. We really want to make her a part of our family, but we need to get her checked to make sure it’s safe for our other cat.

I really need help and I’m not sure what to do. I wanted to call the humane society, but they’re closed. If anyone knows of any services in Nashville or has any advice, please let me know.

The humane society and most vets can scan the cat for a microchip. She might have just gotten lost nearby. You could at least make a report with them so the owners can find her. If your funds are tight and you can’t afford a wellness exam right now, maybe reconsider keeping her until you can handle the vet bills.

I get what you’re saying, but our cat is so spoiled, and in a month and a half, I’ll be more financially stable. I’m actually expecting a large check soon.

I really don’t want to give her up just because I can’t afford a vet right now. I’ve called all the shelters, and they’re full, so if we had to return her, she’d have to go back outside.
