Does pet insurance cover dental care? Anyone know?

I’ve been wondering about this… does pet insurance actually cover dental care? I know some pets need dental work, but I’m not sure if my plan includes it. I heard some policies cover stuff like tooth extractions from accidents, but is that the case for all of them? And what about things like regular dental cleanings? Anyone have experience with this? :thinking:

@Branley
Wait, what’s an add-on? :sweat_smile: Do they mean it’s like extra coverage I need to pay for separately?

I just checked my pet’s policy, and they cover tooth extractions but not routine cleaning. I’m planning to add the preventive care option though, since it’s pretty affordable and might save me money long term. :dog2:

@Luca
Yeah, that makes sense. It’s like insurance for our pets’ teeth. I didn’t even know that was a thing until recently. :sweat_smile:

I think dental care is super important for pets. Regular brushing and cleanings can save a lot of pain (and money) later on. My vet recommended dental toys, and they really seem to help with my dog’s plaque buildup! :dog:

@Hadden
Oh, dental toys? I’ve never tried those! Do they really work? I might get one for my cat :cat:

Yeah, they work great for keeping plaque away! My dog loves chewing on them, and it helps prevent buildup. Just make sure to get ones specifically made for dental health. :blush:

My pet’s teeth were in bad shape, and I didn’t realize how much it could affect their health! Turns out, dental disease can affect other organs too. I started brushing my dog’s teeth and got regular checkups after learning that. It’s been a game-changer! :paw_prints:

@Wolf
Oh wow, I didn’t know dental disease could affect other organs. That’s pretty scary! I’m definitely going to look into brushing my dog’s teeth more often now.

I agree with all this. I didn’t realize how bad dental problems could be for pets until I had to deal with it. Regular checkups and brushing are so important. I’d recommend everyone do it! :paw_prints:
