I have a tiny baby red crab, and I’m completely stressed out about how to bring her with me. I’m moving from Texas to Nevada in 5 days and flying there with Spirit Airlines. Unfortunately, they classify crabs as exotic pets, so I’m not allowed to bring her on the flight. The only other option seems to be shipping her, but I don’t know the safest way to do it. Any ideas?
If you can afford it, hiring a pet courier to drive her to Nevada might work. It can be expensive, though. If shipping is your only choice, maybe check with aquarium or crab-specific forums. People there might have experience with shipping crabs.
Look into pet transport companies. They mostly handle dogs and cats, but it’s worth asking them if they can help with a crab.

Do you know how much that might cost? I’ve got $18 left to my name right now… LOL.
@Denny
Unfortunately, it’s likely way more than $18 I once transported a puppy over 1,000 miles, and it cost around $700. Is driving instead of flying an option for you?

If driving isn’t possible, you could check with local fish stores. They might give you tips on how to ship her safely.
You should talk to a local fish store about shipping your crab. They might have the best advice on how to do it. Also, keep an eye on the weather because temperature will be a big factor in keeping her safe during the journey.
@Vail
That’s a great idea. Thank you so much!
It’s a crab… are you sure it’s worth all this stress? Why not just get another one once you’re in Nevada?
