What are the best pet insurance options available?

Hey everyone, I’m hoping this is the right spot to ask about pet insurance. I’m looking for a plan that covers regular wellness exams alongside everything else. I’ve checked out Embrace, but they only reimburse up to $250 a year for wellness. Is there a better option that covers more or even all of it? I have one dog and two cats I’d like to insure.

We use MetLife, and they don’t have a cap on wellness exams. Ours is $70, and they cover 80% after a $250 deductible. There’s also a $10,000 annual limit. I went with them since neutering costs about $650 around here.

How’s your experience with MetLife so far?

It’s hard to say right now since we haven’t needed to use it yet. But the customer service was great when I called. Our first vet visit is coming up on the 28th.

Hey, I’m considering MetLife for my dog too. Do they have a waiting period?

Yeah, there’s a two-week waiting period with most companies.

From what I know, every wellness plan seems to have a cap or a list of allowed expenses. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I haven’t found any that cover everything. You might pay more for better coverage, like ManyPets, which has a $600 allowance but still has limits on each category. Many people end up self-funding their preventive care and just get insurance for major issues. Unless you really maximize the wellness plan, it probably won’t save you much.

I’m looking at MetLife for my 9-year-old Cairn Terrier. Do they cover pre-existing conditions after the waiting period? I saw they have a 12-year age limit—does that mean they’ll drop you once your dog turns 12, or is that just for new applicants? They seem to be well-rated, but I couldn’t find answers on their site. They only have a phone number, and I prefer email since I’m hard of hearing.
