What are users saying about Companion Protect insurance changes?

Does anyone know what’s going on with Companion Protect insurance? I got a letter a while back saying they were rebranding as Ringo, and the new plans and rates were worse, so I switched my cats to Figo. But now I can’t figure out how to access the Ringo policies to cancel them. The letter mentioned something about an automatic switch, but I can’t find any info online. No website, nothing. And my old Companion Protect policies were canceled automatically because of this switch.

Does anyone have any insight on what’s happening? I’m planning to call Companion Protect, but I usually get billed on the 6th, so I need to sort this out soon.

Yeah, they are rebranding as Ringo. From what I’ve heard, it’s the same company, just with a new name and underwriter. Honestly, it sounds like they ran out of funds. They’ve had to raise investor money back-to-back, and I’m guessing (just a guess) that investors demanded less generous policies in exchange for the funds.

You probably had to agree to the new terms for the switch to Ringo. I think the letter gave different options, but if you didn’t opt in, they might’ve just canceled your policy. I’d definitely call Companion Protect to get things straightened out. They may have already dropped you and didn’t bother sending any Ringo info if you didn’t confirm the switch. Best to call and be sure.

I must’ve missed that in the letter… didn’t realize I had to do anything. Thanks for letting me know.

I called the Ringo number, and they were going to charge my card at the start of the new policy (which might be today). They said once they charge my card, I’ll be able to log in and get a copy of my policy. I didn’t do anything after getting the cancellation letter from Companion Protect in July. So, you might want to call Ringo if you want to cancel before they charge you. It’s weird they didn’t send anything before the switch.

Thanks a lot for the info. I ended up emailing Companion Protect right after I made this post to cancel my policies, and luckily, they responded. The whole situation is just so strange.
