What Is Your Experience with Pets Best Insurance?

What has your experience been like with Pets Best Insurance?

I adopted my Border Collie/Lab mix, Billie, back in 2019 when I was a junior in college. She quickly became my best buddy. A couple of years ago, I noticed she was limping a bit, which made me think it was time to get her some insurance. Luckily, the limp went away, but I wanted to be prepared for any surgeries in case I couldn’t afford them later.

I spent a lot of time researching and found that Pets Best offered the best value for me. I got a policy with a $200 deductible and $5,000 in coverage, where they reimburse 80% of the claims. Just for reference, I’m in Missouri since prices and coverage can differ by state.

During her first year, we made one claim for a small benign bump on her ear. Pets Best covered it, but all the expenses went toward my deductible. I was starting to doubt if pet insurance was worth it until about two months ago when Billie struggled to get up, and I could tell her back legs were hurting her. After about a month, I took her to the vet, and they did X-Rays, revealing she had a degenerative knee disease. In short, she needed TPLO surgery.

This procedure is pretty pricey, and my vet was on the higher end of the cost spectrum, but we trusted them, so it was worth it for us. Billie is only 5, so we decided to go ahead with the surgery. I quickly submitted claims for her diagnostic X-Rays to Pets Best and did the same after her surgery. Although our policy mentioned covering cruciate ligament events, I was still anxious they might push back on the claims, especially since I had read some reviews about them denying claims.

I’m happy to share that Pets Best processed both of my claims related to Billie’s surgery this week, and we’ll get back the full 80% reimbursement. They made the process super easy, and the claims were processed in under 30 days. I highly recommend asking your vets for the SOAP notes to submit through Pets Best’s claims portal. I think this helped speed up the process. I’m really grateful I chose Pets Best, as it lets me provide the best care for Billie. It’s genuinely worth every penny! We’re paying $94 quarterly for Billie and an additional $45 quarterly for our cat. Plus, they offer a 5% discount for insuring multiple pets!

I just wanted to share in case anyone is thinking about Pets Best for their pet insurance. Feel free to reach out or comment if you have questions. Thank you, Pets Best!

I just compared about 15 different pet insurance plans and ended up going with Pets Best a few days ago, so it’s nice to see this review. Thanks for sharing! I feel like people often post about negative experiences, so it’s great to see positive ones too.

They increased my premium quite a bit, but I still renewed my policy because they paid out over $3,000 in my dog’s first year.

I agree, the premiums are totally worth it since they’ve reimbursed $4,000 for my dog’s second year.

I totally get it! It’s tough to feel good about a decision when so many reviews online are negative. I felt it was important to share my experience because Reddit is my go-to for honest reviews. I hope my post helps you feel more confident in your choice. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Pets Best in my time with them, which has been about a year and a half.

Yay, So happy for you and your pup! I hope they’re feeling better. I just signed up for a Pets Best policy for my 9-week-old puppy, so this makes me feel good about my decision!

I’m adding a new Border Collie puppy to my family in November, and I’ve been stressing over comparing insurers. Reading stories like this really helps.

By the way, what are SOAP notes?
