Why does my dog love to cuddle so much?

I have a small Yorkie who loves to cuddle. She always comes to me, either sleeping on me, behind me, or in my arms. She seems to enjoy it so much, and I find it really cute. She also does this thing where she puts her front paws around my neck, almost like she’s hugging me, especially in the mornings. It’s the sweetest thing.

She’s very playful and loves people, but I don’t really see her cuddling anyone else like this. I’m curious if this is her way of showing affection or if it’s something else that dogs do. Does anyone here know more about dog behavior? I’d love to understand her better.

My dog, a Cavachon, does the same thing. She loves cuddles and always wants to be close to me.

That’s so adorable! Cavachons are such sweet dogs. I love that they’re cuddle bugs too.

Dogs are all different. Some love cuddling, and some don’t. I’ve had dogs that didn’t like it at all, one that was okay with it, and one that absolutely loved it. Sounds like your Yorkie is a real cuddle buddy. Lucky you!

Dogs often cuddle because they see you as part of their pack and want to show affection. It’s a bonding thing. Sometimes, though, they might cuddle if they’re scared or seeking comfort. Here’s an article about it: Why Dogs Like to Cuddle.

Both my Chihuahuas were like this too. They’re total lap dogs and love snuggling up as close as possible.
